Big Island Christmas

We celebrated Christmas on the Big Island, and yes, that's the actual name of the island. They weren't too terribly creative in naming it. But it actually is a pretty big island. I mean we spent over a week there and only saw half of it. But the half we saw, i fell in love with!

It's the perfect Christmas island. I think we'll make it a tradition, while we're here, to spend every Christmas on the Big Island. What other place in the world can you swim in 95 degree, volcanic heated ocean pools, and then drive "home" to your little cabin that's nestled in the 45 degree weathered mountains and start a fire? I would venture to say, no where else in the world, at least not in the 30mins it took us to drive from one extreme to the other. We lit fires every night, snuggled in our winter clothes, played in the heated ocean water, checked out the black and green sanded beaches (amazing!), we even drove up to one of the highest points in the world (if you're counting from sea level to the top) and actually drove above the clouds to watch the sun set and the millions of stars shining above us. Oh, and did i mention the actively erupting volcano?? Yeah, that was pretty cool too! It was a beautiful trip and a perfect Christmas.

I've heard it said, a picture is worth a thousand words...well, here are a thousand pictures worth thousands of more words, which i'll spare you from reading!

From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
